The idea is to stroll around in Helsinki and find interesting nature photos in urban surroundings.
Imagine plants pushing upwards from pavement cracks, or flowers in a window in Kallio, or city fox/rabbit crossing the street... or Bubi flying above Forum... It can be whatever when nature tries to hold its place in a city.
I suggest a pre planned gathering twice a month starting from a agreed place and ending up impromptu. Bad weather gives great pics :D
Then there should be an evening for going through selected photos of each participant and discussion about the whole thing. I have the place, a youth center available with projectors and comfortable rooms.

Helsinki Public Jam
How does Helsinki taste? We'll make an experimental jam of the
tastiest fruits and berries in the open areas of our city. Aronia,
apple trees, rowan berries, plums and roseberries are easy to find in Helsinki, and for the best spots check out the satokartta.net website.
Bring a jar witha lid that you have washed well and soaked in water overnight, a cutting board, a knife, and your chosen berries or fruits. Please let us know ahead if you're coming! Heather Dewey-Hagborg and Aleksei Stevens in conjunction with the Electronic Music Foundation propose a Field Recording workshop to take place in and around Issue Project Room and the Gowanus Canal 9/19 and 9/21 5-8pm.
Students will learn basic techniques behind field recording and will together collect sounds which wiil be showcased in two events during the EMF Ear to the Earth Festival in October: Share at Issue Project Room on 10/16 and a tribute concert to John Cage featuring sounds collected in similar workshops from all 5 boroughs on a date TBD.
Day 1 of the class will be a technical introduction as well as a hands on workshop at Issue Project Room.
Day 2 of the class will be an excursion around the Gowanus Canal area to collect sounds followed by a listening session.

Let's discuss this and other things during an open meeting @ the Kalasatama Container Square during its grand opening this coming Saturday, May 21st 2011! The Public School will introduce itself and show some material from past classes and hopes to get new people along. Starting from 2 pm with an open end.
The whole program of the CSQ-opening can be found on its Facebook-event page, Salla's PS-foraging trip/class in the morning is just the prelude to an afternoon of DIY-pizza, kite and wind workshops, Street Art lectures by MDC (Multicoloured Dreams) and concerts in the evening - come along to enjoy the free spirit of the newly painted container square!

Traditionally this time of the year was scarce with food in Finland, since the harvest season was long ago and nothing new was growing in fields yet. But in the forests there is already lot to eat! The newly sprouted wild vegetables are at their most delicious at the moment.
Join us for a foraging trip to the woods in Kumpula and learn to know the most common edible plants.
Later in the day the foragers have an opportunity for DIY Pizza baking with the freshly foraged ingredients with the bakers of the Clay oven Archie starting in Kalasatama at 13.

I would like to do a sort of a philosophical photo evening. About peoples lifes. Everybody telling about their life situation. And why they are at the point they are at the moment. What they think is the reason for this place in life they are experiening right now. What is the positive in that situation, what is the hard part. And then in the end to do a sort of a photo series illustrating that place where the person is at. What ever it maybe: Love, lonliness, happiness, depression. You name it! The fun thing would be to do this as a group! And to tell/listen to peoples stories.
